Travellers' Code

This Travellers' Code was developed and written by local tourism business owners, its a good way to remember just how sensitive and vulnerable this special landscape is.

 


Travellers Code for Tarnava Mare

While you are with us:

  1. Ask advice about where to walk in our beautiful countryside and give your car a rest.
  2. Travel by train and use local transport.
  3. Ask your host about our communities and culture and our local festivals and traditions.
  4. Buy the book about our villages and learn about us; „The Historic Countryside of the Saxon Villages of Southern Transylvania” by John Akeroyd from TICs and local places.
  5. Be careful with water, it is a precious resource.
  6. Please don’t put cardboard etc down the toilet, we have delicate drainage systems that are easliy blocked.
  7. Please turn lights and heaters off if not being used and dry your clothes outside.
  8. Respect our nature, leave your foot prints, not your rubbish, recycle your rubbish or take it home.
  9. Please don’t make fires, our ancient forests and wildlife could be damaged.
  10. Try to choose water in glass bottles and ask your host how to recycle them.
  11. Taste Transylvania, buy local food.Take a piece of Transylvania home with you: honey, jam, pottery, rugs, scarves, curtains, tins, barrels and socks!
